Making the Hot Pack Objective: To make an environmentally safe and economically smart hot pack Materials - Graduated Cylinder Balance Beaker Thermometer 2 Plastic Bags (One small and one large) Water- H20 1mole=18grams Calcium Chloride- CaCl2 1mole=111grams Amount of Materials used in the Lab - 1. 5.00grams CaCl2 (which is = to .045moles) 2. 20.0grams/ml Water (which is = to 1.11moles) PROCEDURE 1. Measure 5.00grams of Calcium Chloride with the balance 2. Measure 20.0ml of Water with the graduated cylinder 3. Place water in the smaller bag and close it, while leaving air inside 4. Place Calcium Chloride in the larger bag 5. Put the smaller plastic bag into the larger bag and seal the larger bag, while getting as much air as possible out 6. To activate, squeeze the small plastic bag so that it opens up and releases the water 7. Shake the bags for 30 seconds to mix the compounds 8. Put the hot pack against the spot that’s hurt to relieve the pain Observations -
