2 Herbal Supplement for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) Treatment Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is clinically described as the non-malignant enlargement of epithelial cells and smooth muscle in the prostate. The condition correlates to lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS), such as a frail urinary stream, nocturia, urgency and hesitancy. For decades, herbal medicine has been employed in managing the condition and related lower urinary tract symptoms. Despite the use of herbal medicine, its effects are not comprehensively understood and backed by research. This paper examines herbal supplement treatment of BPH based on the L.L. case study. Recommending Herbal Supplement for BPH In the case of L.L., I would recommend the use of herbal supplements based on his preference as a patient. While the effectiveness of herbal supplements in treating BPH is not yet completely understood, Kim, Park, and Lee (2019) explain that herbal medicine has been used in its treatment and other related lower urinary tract conditions. The recommendation decision will premise on the herbal supplement having a clinical study basis on efficacy, its associated adverse effects and interaction in the body, and consistency of dosage in different brands.
