3 Cochlear implants are electronic devices that are surginaly implanted into the inner ear. They allow people who are deaf, or hard of hearing, to be able to hear more clearly. It has been suggested that this technology could be adapted to enhance a person’s hearing so they can pick up sounds that would be usually impossible to hear. Discuss why people may be opposed to this adapted technology.
