ENG-123 1-6 Journal: From Issue to Persuasion The first potential paper topic that I am considering will address if teaching abroad in Asian countries is profitable and beneficial for the individual or is it not. This paper topic is argumentative because there are oppositions to this topic and issue. There are those who believe that teaching abroad can have great financial reward and benefits compared to many American teachers, and then there are those who do not agree with it due to the nature of problems that are associated with homogeneous societies. There are many people on both sides of the debate that believe that teaching abroad is an advantageous opportunity, however many people are subjected to the idea that teaching abroad does not compensate well nor worth the culture shock, especially in Asian countries. I, however, disagree with this position. I do not believe that it does not compensate well or mean it will be harder educating as some are led to believe. Instead of teaching in one’s home country, I will argue that teaching abroad gives ample opportunities for educators. For example, teaching abroad often provides better and more secure income, housing, and medical comparative to that of the United States. In my preliminary research via the Shapiro Library, I used both the Opposing Viewpoints in Context, JStor, Pro Quest Central Database, and the Sage Journals. I have found several articles that support the benefits of teaching abroad and the effects of living in a different society that engages that position as admirable and several articles that argue that it is not a justifiable career or opportunity to all parties involved. I am interested in this potential paper topic because
