BODY IMAGE 3 body image, I would begin placing less emphasis on my appearance and more on what I can do. I would expect the same from others, that they too emphasize on their skills and abilities and not how they look. The media would need to focus on people’s abilities and not how they look like, as such people would know that they are not defined by their looks but their abilities. Eating disorders are a serious health concern and need extensive treatment. The treatment should be multifaceted including physical health management, nutritional education, counselling, and medical care (Eli & Ulijaszek, 2016). Counselling would address issues to do with anxiety and depression, stress management, coping skills, childhood trauma if the person has that history, and body image. There could be physical complications which are the resultant factors for eating disorders. If these are not attended to, they can be fatal. A medical practitioner needs to monitor the physical aspects to identify if they may be the predisposing factors. Psychotherapy helps with addressing issues to do with media influence on body image (Sidani et al., 2016). In such therapy sessions, clients are educated about healthy body weight and that there is a difference between good health and extreme thinness. Additionally, the counsellors would get an idea of where their idea of certain body image comes from and show the consequences of given food disorders. References Eli, K., & Ulijaszek, S. (2016). The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
