3. How does the quilt provide a good metaphor for the events taking place in Trifles ? The quilt and tools used to make it provided the perfect metaphor for the story line. Quilts are made from material pieces from many separated and unrelated pieces woven and sewed together to make one piece. The story had some many pieces that put many things all over the place. The two females in the story had to look around the kitchen and put pieces together in order to make sense of what was going one. The quilt and how it was seemed should the mental statues of Mrs. Wright. The sewing box held the bird’s body that Mrs. Wright cared deeply about and was wrapped in a silk cloth. Sewing was typically a woman’s project. Since much man did not sew in that era,Mrs. Wright knew her husband would not look in the box (BBC, 2014) . So after putting everything together the motive was clear and similar to what happens when you put different materials together.
