I see technology as a distraction to our society for both young and old people. Instead of paying attention in class and doing homework I find myself drawn to my computer wondering how and what my friends are doing. Wishing I was hanging out with them then in class. Although for some people this addiction goes too far and they are unable to stop their curiosity. Technology will always be a distraction in the hands of those that let it become one, and if that distraction is paired with a person driving down the highway is can spell disaster. Texting and driving has become a big issue in the recent years with the dramatic increase in the number of people with cell phones. People always have their cell phones with them so if someone texts or calls them it is likely that they will try to respond. That second that they take their eye of the road can be a second too long. Technology’s ability to be with us anywhere has caused this problem. When I see older people talking on their phone and not paying attention I wonder what kind of example they are setting for their children. Is this a good habit that they should let their kids pick up? Will technology ever stop growing? Technology has changed our society and how we all function today. Some may use technology to strive forward and make advances while others succumb to the easy access and the quick way of doing things. Technology has taken over our lives and we can now not live without it. It has damaged our ability to think, talk, communicate, and even live. People can’t even do simple math without the help of a calculator, so how can we expect our society to function. Will you let technology rule your life?
