2014). As individuals fulfil developmental tasks complexity increases. These tasks, provide learning opportunities for the individual to maintain and improve health. Erickson’s framework, which organizes specific health tasks for the individual to accomplish at each developmental phase of the life cycle, continues to serve as the framework to assess and plan care (Vogel -Scibilia et al., 2009). Erickson’s eight stages providethe traditional developmental assessment nurses generally use to plan care. Each stage presents a central task or crisis that must be resolved before healthy growth can continue (Hockenberry & Wilson,2010). Both age and developmental stage continue to provide the foundation for contemporary assessment of individuals’ health status. Developmental tasks begin at birth and continue until death.Using this developmental focus as a guide, Duvall created 8 stages in her family developmental theory which should be a guide in nursing assessment of a family which are 1. Family as married couple with no children, 2. Child bearing family with children up to 30months of age , 3. Families with preschoolers,
4. Family with school age children 6 through 13years, 5. Familieswith teenagers, 6. Families assisting their adults into the world,
