At the margins of the dark areas the dark material embays (appears to flow into) the lighter material. Some circular features in lighter material appear to be filled with darker material, in other areas circles of the lighter material appear to rise through darker material. There are a number of lighter "spots" in both the light and dark areas. Some of these spots have light rays that radiate from them and that cross all features in their path.

Detailed Observations At the boundaries between the dark and light areas, the embayment of the dark surface into the light surface suggests that the dark surface is covering the low areas of the lighter surface. This interpretation is consistent with the observation that the dark surface is found in the floors of some of the craters whilst only the light crater rim, or part of the rim, is exposed for other craters. This embayment relation suggests that the dark surface was laid over the lighter surface, which is consistent with a younger age for the dark areas. The roughly circular outlines of the dark areas suggest that they were controlled by large impact

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
