paragraphs long.
Written Assignments
Weekly written assignments of 2–5 pages may also be assigned to facilitate the integration of social work
knowledge, skills, and values. Written assignments are designed to provide students with the opportunity to
apply their newly gained knowledge to professional situations, case studies, or other scenarios. All
assignments must adhere to APA guidelines.
Agency Visit and Paper
In order to function as change agents, social workers interact with others in a wide variety of organizations.
In this assignment, students will visit a social service agency in their local area and interview a social
worker. During the interview, students will focus on the social worker’s educational background and

training, job activities, professional roles, target client group, and services provided by the organization.
Students will write a 5- to 7-page paper reflecting the information gathered during the interview and visit
and how it related to information presented in the course. Papers must meet APA guidelines.

Feedback will be provided regularly by your Instructor. Each Instructor has a unique way of providing
feedback. If you believe you are not getting enough feedback, you are strongly encouraged to contact your

The Instructor will log on to the course Discussion areas 4–7 days a week to evaluate and respond to
Discussions. Please note the Instructor will not respond to every posting/response.
Each Assignment will be returned by Day 7 of the week following that in which it was assigned, allowing
you to incorporate feedback into the Assignments for subsequent weeks.
If needed, you may e-mail the Instructor to set up a time for a telephone conference at any time during the
course. You are responsible for routinely checking the Announcements for any changes to the
