schools recorded 31. The PCR trend over five years shows that it has been improving at a rate of 3%. Table 4.9: PTR & PCR by school ownership and Region in Primary Schools Region PTR PCR Gov't Pravate Total Gov't Pravate Total Central 59 26 46 57 31 47 East 53 26 48 78 30 67 N.East 23 86 25 68 85 69 North 57 31 55 78 41 76 S.West 65 26 53 42 27 39 West 46 27 42 68 30 57 National 54 27 48 65 31 57 4.13 Access Indicators in Primary Education 4.13.1 Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) The Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) in all schools was 117.7% (117.9% for boys and 117.6% for girls). This implies existance overage and underage pupils enrolled in schools. 4.13.2 Net Enrolment ratio (NER) The findings indicated a Net Enrolment ratio (NER) of 97.5% with the ratio of Girls (97.9%) being slightly higher than that of boys (97.1%). According to the GER records above, this implies that the overage and underage pupils constituted 20.2%. 4.13.3 Gross Intake Ratio (GIR) The ASC 2011 recorded a GIR of 140.1% (142.0% boys & 138.2% girls). Since the percentage was more than 100%, it implies that some new entrants to Primary one were overage (below 6 years) and underage (above 6 years). 4.13.4 Net Intake Ratio (NIR) Findings also revealed a 63.9% NIR in all schools with 63.9% for male and 64.0% female. The implication is that for every 100 children of age 6 deemed fit for primary one entry, there are 64 enrolling for primary one. This gap should be mitigated if we are to achieve the MDG goal of Education for all.

50 EDUCATION STATISTICAL ABSTRACT 2011 4.14 Sanitation in Primary Schools 4.14.1 Pupil Stances Ratio (PSR) The Annual School Census 2011 also captured data on pupil stances ration since this indicator is key in determining the hygiene levels of schools. The findings are indicated in table 4.10 below; Table 4.10: Pupil Stance Ratio at Regional Level Region Latrine Stances Total Enrolment Pupil - Stance Ratio Central 60,996 1,797,498 29 East 57,244 2,438,174 43 N. West 38,716 1,036,743 27 West 29,001 984,869 34 National 232,173 8,098,177 35 Findings indicate that there were 232,173 stances for 8,098,177 pupils implying Pupils Stance Ratio (PSR) of 35 in 2011. The eastern region had the highest PSR of 43 while the southwestern region had the lowest at 27. This indicates that a lot is to be desired in reducing the PSR in the eastern region. 4.15 Extra Curricula Activities in Primary Schools 4.15.1 Participation in Extra-Curricular Activities in Primary Schools Participation of pupils in extra curricula activities was analyzed and results summarized in figure 4.15 below; Figure 4.15: Distribution of Pupil Participation in Extra Curricula Activities From the results, the highest percentage of participating pupils was in athletics with 25.9%, followed by those involved in music dance and drama at 19.1%. The percentage share of participating pupils for other activities was; debates (18.2%), football (14.6%), netball (9.2%),

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
