Check the Basics First 0:51-2:05 However, just as with wired networks you should check the simple causes first when you're troubleshooting connectivity issues on wireless networks. For example, you need to be sure to usequality wireless network adapters in your wireless clients. My experiences has been over the yearsthat the expensive low-end wireless adapters usually don't perform as well as more expensive,higher-end adapters. Usually because they don't implement very good wireless antennas. And this reduces their effective range and can cause poor connectivity. Another issue you need to be aware of is just to make sure that the wireless adapters actually connected to the system. If you're using an external wireless adapter, make sure it's plugged into the system and that the system is recognized it and loaded the appropriate drivers. If you're using an integrated wireless adapter, such as on a notebook system or maybe on a mobile device, you need to make sure that it's enabled. Be aware that some devices like notebooks provide a switch, an external switch on the case itself that's used to turn the wireless adapter

off or on. And it's really easy for end users to accidentally hit that switch and turn the wireless adapter off and then they call you and want you to fix it. When in fact it's really a simple process, flip the adapter back on. Also make sure that the latest drivers for the wireless adapter have been downloaded and installed. Security Configuration Issues 2:06-3:21 Now, if these basic issues check out and you're still getting poor or no wireless connectivity, then you need to start looking at some more complex issues that can affect wireless networks. For example, if you're getting no wireless activity at all, one of the key things you should check for is the security configuration of the wireless network adapter. The security configuration of the wireless adapter must match the security configuration on the wireless network. For example, if your wireless network uses WPA2 to protect wireless transmissions, then you need to make sure that the wireless network adapter on the system is also configured to use WPA2. In addition, if your wireless network uses a pre-shared key like WPA2-PSK then you need to make sure that you've configured the correct key on the wireless clients. If you used the wrong key, they won't be allowed to connect to the wireless network. On the other hand if your network security solution uses an enterprise authentication standard like WPA2 Enterprise. Then you need to make sure that the correct authentication credentials are configured to authenticate to the RADIUS server that controls access to the wireless network. Now, if you still can't connect, you need to start looking at other things. For example, you should verify thatMAC address filtering on the access point isn't preventing the wireless client from associating with it.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
