People call him a deadbeat brother and law and make fun of the stand up and say maybe he’s living on the street Tries to sneak in but the cab driver runs up to say he’s home I bet he ran out of money and had nowhere to go and is too embarrassed to tell anyone He’s there… he was spotted trying to time his entry Plan to go about business as usual His sister is excited to see him but dad is not dad wants to know why he’s home and tells him there is nothing there except udon his words 6 years ago and dad has no udon for him Re did his room since he said he wasn’t coming back sister says sleep at family alter He should visit mom at her grave/alter Kyoko Miyagawa – heroine bookworm who wants to be a novelist sent on a wild goose chase and falls in puddle ruining all her stuff and losing her glasses which she finds Kosuke runs out of gas Kyoko is lost and picks a random fork with sign that says caution bears this is obviously not the way she came lots of fog and she runs into Kosuke who is strapped without gas and he flags her down scaring the crap out of her. He asks for a ride and they hear a bear roar he dives into her car and they both try to hide / play dead the bear jumps on the car and they go down an embankment The car is trashed and they are lucky to be alive she finds a river and admits they are lost finally and gets lost in stores They come out of the woods at a noodle shop they eat hot will be 10 minutes Cracked raw egg right in bowl You said you weren’t coming back until he made it big or big debt drinking with friends who are proud he spent the night with a strange woman his best friend is in a suit and has business cards they talk about how he does not want to take over his dads udon shop friend offers him a job in a local rag place / the place is Kyoko’s job she will help him 10 yen / copy sold is his pay he accepts quickly he’s gonna sell 6,000 tops he thinks he will sell 100,000 town magazines are poor sellers apparently

Apparently local food guides are very popular and Kosuke gets an idea they set off to buy udon and do a magazine on the udon and food of the area Random dude like deep fried asparagus and sardines Have to pull your own green onions/cut them at one shop Make the places hard to find, “adventure dining” The noodle gynostics They go in search of out of the way noodle places that readers will have to search for one place makes you bring your own bowl and guy has a pilgrim kit with supplies in it see guys leaving eating out of a bag with their hands One is full self service with lots of toppings Kyoko is a horrible driver Dad gives noodles to random boy tells him to retun bowl washed and is awake when son tries to sneak in after not paying Taxi driver Dad is cutting noodles and son says a machine would be easier runs away when dad turns to look and hides but doesn’t understand why he his hiding and remembers time spent with his dad when he was young Cop says if you are looking for Udon find a chimney they eat with the cop One of the ubon places blows up / burns down as they get to it One place has huge fried sqid
