Speed to market is a great tool, especially when you can monopolize a highdemand segment like AT&T did with the iPhone. However, as you pointed out, a company's reputation can, and often will hurt its business regardless of that speed. I know a few people who wanted an iPhone for the longest time, but didn't like AT&T, so they wouldn't do business with them. Once a different carrier picked up the iPhone, they purchased it from them.
