The overlapping is what truly helped me for when I did the lab lectures, and then I am the type of person that I have towrite stuff down, so I print out the lab pages read them and follow along the videos and then at the end right before theexam I got through all the study review of the labs.It was hard to memorize the six legs and the eight legs, then termites, insects, etc.I literally have to write everything down, and repeat, and repeat. This section to be really honest made me so sick to mystomach, I was not able to eat right. With that said, this class by far has been the most interesting class I have ever taken, because I used to work at aninfectious disease/internal medicine doctor (as a medical assistant), apart from MRSA/HIV etc, we also did InternationalTravel Clinic, where we would vaccinate all the people going overseas. Now a lot of things are starting to add up, malaria, yellow fever, African sleeping disease, Chaga's, and omg rabies, we saw so many patients that would just love to go intobat caves to sight see and get bit, or bats inside their house, they would trap them and sent to the lab to find out if theyhad rabies or not.Sorry long email. Thank you so much for your support and great funny teaching methods!I basically break down the lab manual with key points and jot down notes from your power points and ofcourse use lots of colored pens/highlighters. I then read it many times and listen to the power points againtoo. Using the Summary Questions is very helpful as well.First off, I want to say thank you for always informing me of my grades. As far as the tests go, I study likeeverybody else, but I know I have to study a lot harder. In 2015, I was diagnosed with cancer and my memoryhas been very bad ever since. With that, I've come to learn that I have to study probably twice as hard asother students in order to do well. I have my boyfriend quiz me constantly before each exam. I use the hintsyou post and try to retain as much of the notes/labs as possible. With the scientific names, I try to come upwith goofy, easy, or ridiculous ways to remember what each of them are. For example,Xenopsyllastarts withan X... The rat flea was very deadly (Bubonic Plague) and many people died from it. The X made me think ofdeath from TV shows that show the X as eyes. I hope that kind of made sense but it's little things like thatthat I try to use to help me remember.13. Attendance:This course movesFAST! You are expected tolog into D2L every day! I will periodicallycheck how many items you have accessed and for how long. This is your attendance!14. Absences and Make-up:a. No make-up lecture exams are given. Each lecture exam is open for several days and then it is offlimits.Because the final exam iscomprehensive, aprorated (%) final exam score is used as a "make-uplecture exam grade" if a lecture exam is missed forany reason. However, to encourage everyone to take allof the lecture exams, the prorated final exam score canreplaceyour lowest lecture exam gradeIFit is higherand will therefore help your grade!
