Compromising our future is one reason that can make racial profiling wrong. The greatest
impact of racial profiling is lowering the sense of self-esteem and confidence of children and
youths. Some of the typical effects of racial profiling observed in children are a negative
psychological effects, loss of education and increased criminalization of children. Racial
profiling is also creating mistrust of institutions. Many communities in the United States have
expressed their sense of uselessness and lack of faith of registering complaints with the human
right commission, police because they have a feeling that their complaints could not be taken
serious, or they might turn out to be treated as suspects. Racial profiling has also led to alienation
and a diminished sense of citizenship. Individuals who live in those communities that are
commonly affected by racial profiling feel that they are not equal members of the society

regardless the time they started staying there. Many people from such communities feel that they
are less worthy and are undesirable members of the community because they are mainly
associated with crimes only dignity (The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights,
2015).
Racial profiling has also led to changes in behaviors of people. People who have been
affected by racial profiling claims to have changed their actions and behaviors to avoid being
subjected to profiling again. This means that the freedom of some communities is compromised
as a result of racial profiling. Besides the racial profiling on children, parents have also been
affected by the ways their children are treated. This has given stress to many parents which end
up affecting their health.
Many societies now feel like they are criminals by just virtue of race, ethnic origin,
ancestry or religion. Many people who have been affected by racial profiling have suffered direct
financial losses such as lost employment income and legal fees as a result of profiling. Another
worst consequence of racial profiling is the physical effects on an individual. There is evidence
that some individuals were strip searched during racial profiling. This is a sign of the excessive
use of power and lack of respect to one’s dignity (The Leadership Conference on Civil and
Human Rights, 2015).
The above-described consequences of racial profiling indicate how unethical racial
profiling has been. It can be seen that besides helping in reducing terrorism and criminal
activities, racial profiling has significantly affected individuals because it is not carried out in a
required manner since there are no clear procedures of performing it. Many communities from
which many people have been affected now define racial profiling as a form of terrorism and that
has really bullied their public image because whenever they walk in public they are only
associated with nothing good except for criminal activities and thus always suspects (Gabbidon,
Higgins & Nelson, 2012).
