oJane Adams is one of the most progressive reformers, born in Chicago. Her father is kind of a rich businessman in Chicago. Adams graduates from high school and inherits her fathers passion to do good. But because she is a woman she can’t do this. She goes to Europe and discovers in England an early version of a settlement house, which is a house in which middle class and upper class reformers try to get these poor citizens to reform themselves.oProgressives to some extent were willing to turn a blind eye to the South.oWoodrow Wilson was the first southerner to hold the White House since after the Civil War.oThe other faith was that if enough people got outraged about something then you can change things easily.•Roosevelt said you need to use the bully pulpit.
