A new group started to write in English. Hence, Spanish, Tagalog , the Vernaculars and finally, English,were the mediums used in literature during these times. The writers in Spanish wrote on nationalism, honoringthe national heroes. The writers in Tagalog continued in their lamentations on the conditions of the country andtheir attempts to arouse love for one’s native tongue. The writers in English imitated the themes and methods ofthe Americans, English as medium of instruction introduced Filipinos to Anglo-American modes of thought,culture and life ways that would be embedded not only in the literature produced but also in the psyche of thecountry’s educated class. It was this educated class that would be the wellspring of a vibrant PhilippineLiterature in English especially during its period of apprenticeship. Launched in 2006, a very popular platform of the youth is“Wattpad”. It is ideally to create an e-book/electronic book reading application, being in demand that time. Butthe founders realized that it would be time consuming to maintain their own catalog, so they decided to let thecommunity decide what they want to read and can also upload their works and content into the application,making it possible for the youth to read more, start creating their own compositions, and become a so-called“network”.
