America can’t be the world’s tech leader without immigration reform (Manjoo, 2009). Look at some of the top companies like; Intel, Google, and Yahoo. These companies all have a founder or co-founder that migrated from a different country and build a successful empire here in the U.S. This led to employment for hundreds of thousands of citizens living in the U.S. There are not enough native citizens to fill up the type of jobs that the tech industry needs. We go to an alternative and grant visas to selected individuals who are qualified for the job. The sad part of this is that they can’t bring their family with them because of the current immigration laws.
I m m i g r a t i o n R e f o r m P a g e | 3 These individuals are separated from their families and they usually have the tendencies to go back to their country with the skills they have acquired here in the U.S. The United States is outsourcing jobs to foreign countries and that is weakening or economy. Allowing undocumented persons to work legally can have a positive outcome in our fluctuating economy. We can have low paying jobs that newly arrived immigrants can attain with minimal skill level in the production industry. These types of jobs are not sought out by citizens because they will not be able to live life how they would like with minimum salary. Often, illegal immigrants take low paying jobs that U.S citizens would not take. These jobs for example can vary from cleaning, mowing lawns, to working in labor factories. These jobs do not pay very much. There is no need to worry for citizens competing against immigrants for these jobs as in
