The king trusted me, since my dad was his close friend. To my dad he always said, “Your son will become a physician. And he will be the best. I will always let your son cure my pains. I promise.” My dad knew that I had no interest in medicine, but he made me learn some anyway. So, when the king caught the Bubonic Plague, all his loyal people went away, except for his family members. The king called for me, for he remembered the promise that he had made to my father. I arrived at the palace, amazed at the emptiness. Wearing my mask, I entered the king’s room, and found his entire family member crowded around him and weeping. I gasped, “Is he dead?” But the king was not. He was just suffering from terrible pain. I sighed, and told all the family members to get out of the room or they would catch the disease. They ran out, and I began to mix up concoctions. Yes, it was poisonous, but I did not know. The king drank it all, and told me that he was grateful that I was so educated. Then I began to cut off his buboes. The king felt pain, but he dared not to scream. He knew that I was doing what I always did. But the bad thing was, all of his buboes were
