From the lines we will die but not without some

Chorus, Cassandra knows she wouldn’t have gone very far if she tries to escape. From the lines, “We will die, but not without some honour from the gods. There will come another to avenge us” (Agamemnon 1300 -1303) Cassandra knows that, at least the gods are in favor of them and someone else will come to avenge Agamemnon’s death and her own. In addition, she knows what she says is true and that it will definitely happen because Apollo himself gave Cassandra the gift of prophecy. To sum it up, Cassandra knows that it isn’t possible for her to avoid her fate and since someone will come and avenge her death, it is actually better for her to walk towards death on her own than being recaptured by the soldiers of Argos if she tries to escape. Oedipus and Jocasta tries to do what they could to prevent the prophecy from happening perhaps because the thought of the things that they are fated to do is too horrible. As shown by what Oedipus says to the Messenger, “Then how could he love me so? He loved me, deeply…” (Oedipus 1120) Polybus loved Oedipus like his own son. So perhaps because of the love and care Polybus and Merope shown him, Oedipus couldn’t just accept what the prophet told him and has to quickly distance himself from them because he owes it to them. Another reason why Oedipus and Jocasta tries to prevent the prophecy from happening could be because they hadn’t ever seen the true power of the prophecies. So they thought they could take matters into their own hands but they don’t realize that their attempts are futile

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
