Not only that, but worst of all many children are forced to leave schools to help with household chores because their mothers have extra burdens. The summer months are the worst for the residents of Kala Dera because that is when there are more water shortages. Ironically, the summer is also when Coca-Cola makes the most money due to the high demand of beverages in the North American heat. The actions done by Coca-Cola in Kala Dera are unethical because they make the lives of many villagers much more difficult; the moral standards of the corporation have a negative effect on the innocent villagers. These actions also go against basic principles such as non-malificence, beneficence, and justice. Furthermore, the actions of Coca- Cola connect back to the philosopher Thomas Hobbes’ theory that humans are only concerned with themselves, and most adults have not been trained to care for others. Similarly, the executives of Coca-Cola are primarily concerned about themselves/their families, and should be trained to care about the families in Kala Dera.
