This preview shows page 4 - 7 out of 24 pages.

Distance between front and rear mounting planes, minimum 610 mm and maximum 915mm (24 inches to 36 inches). Minimum clearance depth (to front cabinet door) in front of front rack mounting plane: 1 inch (25.4mm). Distance to rear cabinet door is at least 900 mm (35.5 inches) with the cable management arm, or 770 mm (30.4 inches) without the cable management arm. Minimum clearance width (between structural supports and cable troughs) between front and rear mounting planes: 18 inches (456 mm). Always load equipment into a rack from the bottom upwards so that it will not become top-heavy and tip over. Deploy the rack's anti-tilt bar to prevent the rack from tipping during equipment installation. Refer to the rack mounting instructions in the Oracle Server X5-8 Installation Guide E56304. ASSEMBLY/CABLING Note the serial number. Located on the left side of front of server, on the RFID tag. Distribute systems across power-sequencers considering failure-safety. Install optional components. Refer to the Oracle Server X5-8 Service Manual E56311. Connect an Ethernet cable for the SP to the administration network. To NET MGT port. Task Comment Check Connect a serial cable between the SP and a terminal device or PC – used for the initial configuration. To the SER MGT port. A DB9-to-RJ45 serial port adapter is included with the server. Connect an Ethernet cable for the host's primary interface to the main network. To the Gigabit Ethernet port Net 0 on the SMOD. Label the cables clearly. Use cable binders. Air filters must be easily accessible, thus cables should not be laid too tightly. Connect the data cables for external storage / plug in third-party HBAs AFTER the OS installation! Perform initial power on by attaching the power cables. All 4 AC power connectors on the back panel must be attached via grounded AC power cords. The SP will boot then it will reduce the speed of the cooling fans. The Power/OK LED on the front panel flashes (standby mode). Oracle Internal and Approved Partners Only Page 5 of 24 Vn 1.4d Created: 19. Jul. 2018

INFORMATION: Remote Console Software and Redirection ILOM provides access to the host console via redirection of the host console output to the ILOM user's device. There are 2 host console streams - graphical and serial. BIOS will display on both and can be interacted with on both. The OS will display different output to both depending on how it is configured. Both may need to be accessed simultaneously to see all OS output during installation etc. Where the expected output only goes to Graphical, this is described in this checklist using the term "ILOM Graphical Console". Where the expected output only goes to Serial, this is described in this checklist using the term "ILOM Serial Console". Where the expected output may appear on either or both, this is described in this checklist using the term "host console".
