Often, digital communication can be difficult to decipher. There are certain complexities that we place in our tone of voice when speaking to one another. We can type something in a humorous manner, but the recipient may not be able to pick up on our sarcasm or humor without hearing our tone of voice or seeing our body language. So, I don’t feel that technology will assist management in promoting cultural innovation. However, I do feel that technology can present an opportunity to foster cultural exposure and eliminate certain cultural barriers between employees. I feel that innovation comes from the person, they either have it or they do not. No amount of technology can overcome complacency and inability to innovate. But, management can certainly motivate people to do their part by being involved and showing sincere concern and leading from the front.
