The Health and Safety Committee Must be established within two months after being requested to do so by: 1.A health and safety representative for a group of workers in the workplace; 2.Five or more workers employed in the workplace; 3.If required by regulation, in the time stated by regulation (Section 75); 4.Any one conducting a business introducing a committee based on their own initiative.

Streamlining committee responsibilities These committees should have the following in place to streamline their activities: A way to keep accurate reports and records KPI’s Resolve issues in a fair and just manner The ability to call on experts for advice A way for all staff members to be heard Ways to measure success and failures A hierarchy of support General agreed communication activities Objectives and WHS Plans An ability to hold regular meetings A structure that encourages the committee to improve.
