Students are required to use their SJDC student email and/or Canvas Private Messages or Forumsfor official communication with the professor and other student nurses. Students will adhere toprofessional format in their communications with peers, professors and other professionals. Repeatedviolations will be considered unprofessional and may result in course failure.SOFTWARENURS ADN 007 uses MS Office and Acrobat Reader as its desktop publishing programs.Aninternet browser (e.g. Microsoft Explorer or Mozilla Firefox) is used to access web based teaching toolssuch as online databases,Canvas,Kaplan, andDocushare. Access to the websites will be given to thestudent subject to College restrictions. The San Joaquin Delta College Goleman Library offers ongoingtraining in the use of various desktop publishing software and plagiarism prevention. Students shouldhave working knowledge of desktop publishing (e.g. fonts, margins, block/hanging indents, formatting,editing, and spell check), sending/receiving email, web browsing and information literacy. Students areexpected to have a working knowledge of the software programs to better enhance their learningexperience. It is expected that students are familiar and have undergone tutorials and practice sessionsusing the programs.Computers and internet access are available in the Nursing Computer Lab, Delta Computer Labsand Public libraries subject to availability.
13GRADING POLICYAccording to the SJDC Associate Degree Nursing Handbook:The student must earn a performance rating in the clinical area of “MeetsStandards" and a minimumof a “C” (75%) in theory to successfully pass the course.The evaluation of theoretical performance will be based primarily upon the student’s cumulativeexam scores.The student must obtain 75% in all tests and quizzes prepared by the instructor in order to pass thecourse. After earning points of passing (75%) in theory, points from other assignments will be addedto the total points for the overall grade in the course.Written assignments are a requirement of the course and willbe graded as part of the student’s totalgrade.Accumulated percentage of 74.5 to 74.9WILL NOT BE ROUNDED OFF TO THE NEXTWHOLE NUMBER.The following scale is used to determine a letter grade:90- 100%=A80- 89%=B75- 79%=C62- 74%=D0- 60%=F
