forgiveness then you are already going to Heaven, so Baptism is not required by God to get into Heaven, it is only an act of obedience that we humble ourselves and set apart the pride of what others may think of us when we publicly show our acceptance of Christ and our beliefs. Jesus himself, sinless and pure, even out of obedience to God was baptized by John the Baptist to show his faith and lead an example for us. An example from the Bible is "Peter replied, 'Each of you must turn from your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins.” this is found in Acts 2:38. The Bible mentions both baptizing in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit (in acknowledgment of the trinity) and only baptizing in the name of Jesus, denominations generally vary in their sayings when baptizing an individual. There are three main beliefs when it comes to baptism. The sacramental view holds that baptism is a way that God shows his grace this means that the person baptized is set free from the power of sin and receives a new life spiritually. The covenantal view is that baptism is not a new life within your spirit, but the seal of the salvationGod has given you. Baptism is similar to repentance. results from baptism, but it is a public confession that a change has been made when they accept Christ and ask for forgiveness (“What Does the Bible Say About Baptism?”.) The process of Baptism is very symbolic. As we emerge into the water we are representing death, in the form that Jesus died. We are heading in the downward motion in that we go to the ground. When we are raised back out of the water we are representing resurrection and our souls being raised into heaven. When we are out of the water, we are cleansed, as our souls will be in Heaven. We are free of sin and our former selves. Water itself, used in baptisms is very symbolic in that water is used to clean. When
