9.Develop a sense of a function and a relation. ATTENDANCE: Attendance is required for all class meetings. Roll call will be taken at the beginning of class each day so, I can tell who is attending and the last date of attendance for those who will decide to stop attending altogether. At the end of class a tardy student may request to be added to the attendant list. A student having more than three consecutiveor six overallabsences will be in a danger of being withdrawn from the course. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure that he/she is aware of all assignments, announcements and contents of missed session. Three (3) late arrivals and earlier departures will be considered as one (1) absence. Having no more than three absencesby the end of the semester will positively affectyour final grade (see Grading Systembelow). ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT: Students are not allowed to operate any type of electronic equipment such as cellular phone in class. The volume on telephones must be turned off, if you have these items with you in the class (ABSOLUTELY NO PHONES ON AND UNDER DESKS SHOULD BE SEEN). Phones are distracting not only to the instructor, but to you and your classmates, as well. Students expecting an emergence call must ask the instructor and get permission before the class. HOMEWORK Assignments consist of two parts: pages to read and problems to solve. I would strongly recommend you to read related sections before coming to the class. In MyMathLab problems you should be able to find solutions of similar problems and check answers online. I expect and encourage you to discuss homework assignments with classmates in Homework Discussion areas in Moodle, but you must write your own solution. Each assignment has a due date that ends at 11:59 PM of the specified day (if no additional instructions are given). VERY IMPORTANT: Homework assignments have prerequisites. You have to get at least 50% in most assignments to be able to start the next assignment. A student who has difficulties with completing an assignment up to the required level should get in touch with me immediately. The first section of a chapter does not have a prerequisite. Even, if you have not finished the last section of a chapter, you can start your work on a new chapter. NO EXTRA CREDITS WILL BE OFFERED IN THIS COURSE. EXAMS and TESTS There are at least fourtests and the final exam. The final exam is going to be cumulative(covers all topics studied during the semester). If you cannot make up an exam, let me know before the exam or as soon as you can. You would expect quizzes, as well.
