This technology investment may also be high in cost which could convince the users to not use it due to the company not realizing the value of it. 2. Companies such as Bayer Material Science and Carlo’s Bake Shop were successful in implementing social networks because of the social platforms that they used. BMS used their programs for communication and features tools for employee profiles within the social network (K. Laudon & J. Laudon, 2018, p. 74). They were successful as they made the tools more user-friendly, created pilot projects, initiated a mentoring program for executives to work with younger employees and began training employees to bring awareness to the new social tools within the company and show their usefulness (K. Laudon & J. Laudon, 2018, p. 74). The management of BMS set goals for the company such as developing worldwide partnerships, generating strong relationships throughout different regions and departments, making it less of a ranking system and allowing specific details about each tool to ensure it was being used for the right job (K.
