Its north pole will point toward Earth’s S magnetic pole, which is fairly close to the geographic North Pole. Earth’s magnetic N pole is located near the bottom of Earth in Antarctica. It is fairly close to Earth’s geographic South Pole. Earth’s magnetic S pole is located at the top of Earth. It is fairly close to Earth’s geographic north pole. The domains inside an unmagnetized piece of iron are unorganized and follow no specific pattern. They can change once the piece of iron is magnetized. Earth’s magnetic poles differ from Earth’s geographic poles. Earth’s magnetic poles have a magnetic field that determines where they are located. Earth’s geographic poles do not have a magnetic field. Earth’s magnetic and geographic poles are inverses of one another: the geographic North Pole is fairly close to the magnetic S pole, and the geographic South Pole is fairly close to the magnetic N pole.
