Second for each person add up the averages that you

This preview shows page 5 - 6 out of 6 pages.

Second, for each person, add up the averages (that you computed above) for the five sentences within each level, and divide by 5. This will give you the average reading time for each person. Each person will have two averages, one for each level. Display these averages (showing two decimal places) for each person under Average Reading Time (per word), as shown on the next page in the Results section. Compute the OVERALL averages of each level in the Results section by adding all four people’s averages and dividing by 4. Plot the two reading time averages using a bar graph (do NOT plot the individual scores; graphs are for overall averages). Use the graphing program in Word by double-clicking on the graph I have provided. An Excel worksheet will come up; click the Tab on the bottom that says Data. Enter your two overall means in the cells under Level 1 and Level 2. Click the Tab on the bottom that says Graph. Click anywhere on the page outside of the graph. The graph should now have two bars, one from Level 1 and one from Level 2. On the x-axis for each graph, click on each of the lines under Level 1 and Level 2 and type in the appropriate descriptions, so that it is clear what each bar refers to. If you need to, right-click the y-axis and change the maximum value to more accurately fit your data. Discussion The discussion is a section for critical analysis of the significance of your data. Describe and interpret the results from your graphs by comparing the reading times in the two levels of your variable. Answer at least the following questions: Was your hypothesis supported - why or why not? What other factors could have possibly influenced these results, and why? What conclusions can you draw from these results about factors influencing sentence comprehension, as well as reading more generally? Submitting Your Report Although late assignments will not be accepted for ANY reason, you are always welcome to turn in assignments early if you want to do so. You must submit your report in two ways: (1) First, submit your assignment through e-learning by the start of class time (1:55 PM) on November 28. Click the Assignments link in e-learning, and follow the directions. (2) Second, turn in a paper copy by the start of class time (1:55 PM) on November 28. DO NOT PUT YOUR NAME ON THIS PAPER COPY! It is important that we grade your papers anonymously, so you instead will put your 6-digit "Assignment ID" number that is listed in e- Learning; click Gradebook 2 to view your Assignment ID number. Again, do NOT write your name on the paper copy that you turn in. ***If you do not follow all of the above instructions, and we

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
