Determina ! on of paddock number The standard method for determining the number of paddocks needed is to take the rest period divided by the number of days of grazing in each rotation and then add one. For example in spring when pastures are growing quickly, if you plan to rotate every 4 days and you only need a rest period of 20 days, you take 20 divided by 4 and add one for a total of 6 paddocks. However in mid-summer and you need a 40 day rest. The number of paddocks needed is 40 divided by 4, then add 1.

This amounts to 11 paddocks necessary in mid-summer. Many producers harvest forage from the summer paddocks in early spring then graze the later re-growth during the middle of the summer.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
