filtrate that reaches the distal contoured tube has already lost all the substances vital for the organism and only conserves waste and excess water. Together, these last two components will form urine, which in the final part of the urine duct will become more concentrated. The tubular reabsorption allows conserving important substances for the organism such as water, glucose, amino acids, vitamins, which pass back into the blood. There is also the reabsorption of important ions such as Na + and Cl-. Also, the resorption can adapt to the needs of the moment, that is, it participates in the homeostasis of the internal environment. The final composition of the urine depends not only on filtration and reabsorption but also on the Tubular Secretion of certain substances from the blood to the tubular fluid. For example, some ions (K +, H +, NH4 +) and creatinine are removed. Once the above processes have occurred, the liquid in the tubules reaches the collecting tube where water can still be reabsorbed. In this place, the liquid begins to receive the name of urine.

The collecting tubes drain into the renal calyces, from there into the renal pelvis, ureters, and urinary bladder where the urine is stored until the reflex of urination occurs, at which time the urine is expelled by the urethra to the outside. References

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
