challenged in a court, the court ruled in favor of NSA saying that people are always surrendering their private information to corporations (Perez 1). While the court ruled as such, it important to note that the verdict of the court lacks legal support and fails to address the constitutionality of the actions of NSA. Finally, the data collected by NSA is subject to abuse and blackmail. The law enforcement officers with the information can use it against the suspects. Law enforcement officers can use the information to pass judgement on an individual who could be completely innocent. These are abuses that can be avoided. For the aforementioned reasons, NSA’s powers need to be abated with investigations following to determine whether there are cases of abuse of power. This would be helpful in setting a precedent into surveillance programs to come as well as preventing the possibility of a similar situation coming up in the future.
