Performance management is the process which the managers based on to assure that the activities of the employees and the outputs are compatible to the goals of the organization. This is one of the main factors which help the companies or organizations to gain competitive advantage over others. There are three parts in the performance management system: defining performance, measuring performance and feeding back performance. 2. The Process of Performance Management There are six main steps in the performance management process. Firstly, it is very important that the performance outcomes or results must be understood and identified. As the customers, the peer or the team of the employees, and the organizations are benefited by these outcomes or results. The second step is the process must be understood carefully. Therefore, the goals which are established in the

first step would be achieved. In the third step, there will be organizational support such as providing the employee with training, equipment necessary for the jobs. Furthermore, there will be many communications where employees and managers can give feedback on the accomplishments, issues, and difficulty which affect the performance. The fourth step is giving evaluation on the performance, include comparing the targeted performance goals and the actual results. The next step is identifying the works which the employees can do to exploit on the strength and weaknesses. The final step is providing activities after complete the tasks, whether achieved or unachieved. This step includes many activities such as classify the training which is necessary to improve, adjusting the type, increase the times which used to giving feedback between the managers and the employees, clarifying, adjusting, or modifying the results of the performance. Furthermore, the behaviors or activities which need to improve must be discussed carefully. 3. Purposes of Performance Management There are three main purposes of performance management system. The first one is strategic purposes. It is very important of a performance management system to link the activities of the employees with the objective of the organization. The strategy is completed through the identification of the results, behavior, and the characteristic of the employees. It is very necessary to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the employees, give direct to the engagement of them, and provide them with the appropriate training and development activities. Moreover, employees who performance are good should be rewarded. The next purpose is administrative purpose. The performance management information is used by the organization to make many administrative decisions such as salary administration, promotions, retention-termination, layoffs, and recognition of the performance of the individual. It is very critical of performance management to accomplish a talent management system and managers who are involving in one-on-one contact to make sure that suitable training and development are delivered.
