report is intended to state the steps taken in carrying out the investigation. The respondent held that the arrests made by the applicant in this case were not public documents (Husdi v PP case [1979] 2 MLJ 304). Referred to the case of the Court of Appeal Mat Zuki Ismail V. PP [2014] 1 LNS 674, such arrest was not a 'first information report' but rather an 'arrest report' . Referred to Public Prosecutor v. Roslim b Harun [1993] 3 CLJ 505, where Abdul Malik Hj Ishak JC explained: The first object of the first information report is only to make a complaint to the police officer to set the criminal law in motion. The importance of the first information report cannot be under-estimated because it is the first version coming to the knowledge of the police and setting its machinery to motion . It is for this reason that it has been provided under s. 108 of the Criminal Procedure Code that the first information report should be sent forthwith to the concerned Magistrate. The value of first information report is that it is the first report of an occurrence to the police and as such it is entitled to the most careful consideration by the Courts of law. Its importance lies in the fact that it is presumed to be an untutored, unplanned and unthought-of out version of the incident just as it reaches the police. Therefore it follows that any statement recorded after the commencement of the investigation and after there has been some development is not first information

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
