Vit D helps absorb Ca 2+ Zinc – deficiency very common in older adults; usually due to reductions in absorption. Iron – may be a deficiency in older age as well; other conditions may exacerbate iron deficiency. Important Nutrients in Aging Water : Dehydration quite common in older adults. Thirst mechanism compromised. Kidney function altered (can’t conserve water). May lead to symptoms of dehydration and hospitalization. 4
