Synthesis/Closure: Students were asked as part of their center to create a twostep word problem. As closure to this activity students will exchange their word problems with a partner and solve each other’s work. Volunteers will be asked to share the partners problem and explain their thinking on how to solve the problem. Students will also answer the two essential questions listed at the beginning of the lesson on a notecard to turn in to the teacher. This will allow the teacher to assess individual understanding and determine the students that need more support on this strand. 2.
