Decision Making Decision making in a team or organization is much different harder than individual decision making. You have to consider the ideas, needs, values and restrictions of other team members, rather than just depend on your own intuition and expertise. In the case presentation we had for organizational behaviour our team struggled a lot with decision making. As mentioned earlier there was a power struggle within the team and also a lack of trust, which lead to team members dominating the decision making process and acting in their own self-interest and not looking at the greater good of the team. Decision making always needs to be coupled with good communication. Ensuring that your expressing your ideas efficiently and your team is understanding them is the only way to make the best overall decision. This is because you need to hear all options and criteria before a best decision can be

decision can be made. The best decision making is also collaborative. Having one person make decisions for the whole unit may end up in conflict because the sole decision maker could be carrying some sort of bias, overconfidence or anchoring bias. Although it can become more time consuming, the best decisions are revealed when everyone is generating ideas and solutions and discussing the bottom line, and when the group is in consensus with the decision they are likely to be more motivated to put into action. Values In our movie case analysis my team looked at the values of the X-men team, and how they did not align. They countered many problems throughout the movie as a result of their opposing value systems. Where some places more importance on terminal values such as revenge and accomplishment the others place more importance on being honest and having integrity. These values influence their behaviour and attitudes throughout the movie and that determines how they are viewed by other characters. Comparing the two leaders of the X-men team one has more ethical values, he seeks to do what is just and right where the other leader has a more Machiavellian value system where he places his own self-interest above general ethics. Ethics Ethics is a big component in decision making especially when your decision affects another. Different people have different ethics, it all depends on the decision being made, your personality and your values. The premise of what is right and wrong to an individual is outlined by some criteria, whether it results in a consequence, aligns with basic human rights, whether it is fair or just, and whether something or something that you care is involved. The roots of all ethics lie within whether or not you are serving your own self-interest. An unethical decision is any decision made without making any consideration for the other party involved. In the theoretical

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
