SaaS, or Security as a Service) would mitigate this issue as that technology matures. Complexityconcerns would also be tackled by SaaS. Privacy however is one area that requires a delicatetouch regardless of if an organization utilizes in house or cloud based data analytics. Anorganization’s policies as well as the environment it operates in (the EU is very strict on this forexample) would need to conform in a way that allows some surreptitiousness. As pointed out inthe Microsoft report, “the challenge of obtaining consent from a user prior to using PII in acybersecurity context is cited as a major barrier. One respondent well described the challengestating, “A big data solution for cybersecurity requires some degree of stealth and secrecy. Howcan this be accomplished with a requirement to collect consent in advance of use?” (2014).
