American Airlines Group Inc. History April of the year 1926 was a very important time period for the airline industry. On April 15 th , 1926 Charles Lindbergh flew the very first flight by American Airlines. The first flight was initiated in order to carry mail from St. Louis to Chicago. These flights carrying mail continued on for approximately eight years. At that point, the company made a transition into how we know it today; transporting people and goods. The “American Airlines” brand is now a well-known name in many households around the country. This particular airline is one of the top leaders within the industry. The founders C.R. Smith and Donald Douglas worked diligently to create the DC-3 plane. This particular model plane was a jetsetter for the airline industry. This plane was the transition from carrying mail to carrying passengers. By implementing this new way of travel for passengers, this made a great positive impact of revenue for American Airlines. Mission and Goals As stated by the American Airlines group official site (2017), “American Airlines and American Eagle are in business to provide safe, dependable and friendly air transportation to our customers, along with numerous related services.” The company also believes that they have a corporate responsibility of maintaining a firm commitment to leading the industry with trust, care, and inclusivity. Being that the airline is innovative and constantly looking for new ways to continue on the path to success, there are a few goals they plan to accomplish in the future. Building a
