water will be available. WHC is important to plants because the more water the soil can hold means that it is less capable of leaching where it can lose nutrients. This is true since soil with low WHC tends to saturate faster and eventually loses water faster too, draining away with it the nutrients from the soil solution. On the other hand, soil with high WHC does not saturate easily thus will not lose water fast, so the plant still has time to absorb the nutrients in the soil solution. But all of these have to be at the right amount. Too much water can drown the plant and too little can cause drought (or wilting point of the plant), eventually dehydrate the plant, both can cause stress to the plant. WHC provides buffer for a plant to handle drought. But when too much water is present, the plant will die. In drought, the plant tends to close its stomates or curl to reduce transpiration and thus reserve water. Plants also tend to wilt its leaves, this is true since the plant is experiencing shortage in water, it then tend to get the water of other leaves in desperation, it’s the same with the source-to-sink action. Plants also decrease its photosynthesis

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
