Project-Based vs. Non-Project BasedIn a project-based organization, the goal is to choose the organizational structure that best allows them to manage multiple projects at once. A construction company would be a good example of a project-based organization. Since the goal of the organization is not to manage multiple projects, but rather to produce only one product or service, the optional organizational structure is the one that allows the organization to best compartmentalize each division’s work. For example, the accounting department handles only accounting related issues, while the human resources department would handle only human resource related issues.

These employeescan come from different departments and normally have different job titles. In a non-project based organization a single manager oversees several different department employees and the department heads run one specific department in which a specific function is performed.
