The grandmother consecutively insults her son and daughter in law’s parenting choices by making rude comments on the children’s behavior, which causes the grandmother’s son and his wife to push her away. Despite that, the grandmother manipulates the children by lying to them about the plantation house so the children would throw a fit to go visit the plantation house. This results in the children noticing how the grandmother only wants to have something to do with the children if it benefits the grandmother and what she wants to do. Ultimately the children don’t care to have a close relationship with the grandmother because of this. It all boils down to The Misfit putting the grandmother in her place. Even though the grandmother doesn’t realize what The Misfit is telling her because she is only worried about herself getting shot and killed. It doesn’t even seem to phase the grandmother that her family is being murdered one by one. Finally, The Misfit lets the grandmother know she is the Misfit of her family. This is when the grandmother should’ve started to pray. O’Connor, Flannery. “A Good Man Is Hard To Find.” The Norton Introduction to Literature. Ed. Kelly J. Mays. 12 th edition New York: W.W.
