Born in Late Republic to an equestrian class Novus homo  for his family Election in 63 BC he becomes consul and the prevention of the conspiracy of Cataline,  which aimed to overthrow the gov and eliminate records of debt. Cicero seized 5 of  Cataline’s co-conspirators and having obtained the approval of the Senate, he executed  them.  Cicero consistently sided with the  optimates  (believed in Senate) Cicero supported Pompey, arguing for him to be granted military commands against  Mithridates The First Triumvirate, 60 BC Pompey, Crassus, and Caesar Pompey is a good citizen when he leaves, he disbands his army and returns to Rome. He  expects triumphs but he gets humiliation. Cato the Younger says we must stick with  tradition and humiliates Pompey.
