It’s important to account for the factor that romanticized landscapes played as they helped persuade people to travel westward, but “pride continued to stem from the conquest of the wild country” (Nash, 2014), so reguardless of the romantized experiences people could get from westward expansion like getting rich off of resources, another imperative aspect to note is that people became prideful from accomplishing the trek westward and making new land their home. There is no doubt that the romanticized westward landscapes could’ve motivated some Americans to move, but there is nothing like a common feeling of American pride that hundreds of Americans had from building a new life through conquering the American west.
