Having the ability to share not only thoughts but also charts and spreadsheetquickly has really enhanced the flow of projects. Having an outside set of eyeslooking at project really makes a big difference. They can help you see thingswith an objective view.On several project that we are doing we have a weekly conference/web meetingwith our architects/consultants. What are the implications of using the critical chain approach to activitytime estimation versus using the classic three time estimates approach toactivity time estimation?Critical path is figured based on early start and finish dates and late start andfinish dates for all activities. This path is the longest path through a schedulewith no float. The activities on the critical path are considered critical activities.Critical chain modifies the project schedule to account for limited resources byadding buffers to the time. Once a critical path is determined, the critical chainis entered by knowing the resource availability and building in buffers. Criticalchain is simply an extra step to also account for limited resources along thecritical path.
