grown hires but will hire laterals strategically and make an effort to integrate them into the firm. I never felt like an outsider here as a lateral (unlike other firms I’ve been at).” OUR SURVEY SAYS Vault’s Verdict: Associates at Proskauer get to work in a relaxed environment on challenging, newsworthy cases, all with the assistance of helpful partners and other associates. In addition to early substantive work and great mentoring, the firm honors its commitment to pro bono, diversity, and pays market compensation—although associates complain that it tapers off for more senior associates. Associates who wish to stay at the firm believe it’s actually feasible to do so, if not by making partner then by becoming counsel. Satisfaction • “Real work right off the bat, client contacts, and working with good people. Added all together, Proskauer makes you feel like a part of the team and valued.” • “Excellent opportunities for a wide variety of work and even a good amount of opportunities to meet clients and develop business relations. However, staffing has been an issue and

Some weeks can be slow and other weeks can be extremely busy.” • “I am routinely given substantive matters on which to work and consistently feel intellectually challenged and stimulated.” Firm Culture • “Lawyers socialize together, but it’s not oppressive. There are regular cocktail parties, but they also recognize you need time to live your life. Fellow attorneys are also great, and there are regular opportunities to go to shows or games.” • “The culture is very team-oriented, and maybe that comes from representing all the major sports leagues. I’ve never felt alone on an island. I work with a mid-level or senior associate and partner on every matter. Doors are always open. The chairman of the firm hosts an associate town hall meeting twice a year and openly and honestly answers questions given (anonymously) in advance.” • “For the most part, people at Proskauer are exceedingly professional, outgoing, interesting, passionate, and generally social. There are plenty of opportunities to catch up with colleagues in the workplace at internal and external speaking engagements, training sessions, and networking events if you so choose, but it’s not a major focus. Furthermore, our physical space and technology (cafeteria, video phones) make it very easy to connect. At the same time, I very much appreciate that people have lives outside of the workplace and there is no unwanted pressure to spend even more time with your colleagues than you already do.” • “Very friendly culture. From top to bottom, people are generally kind, thoughtful, and friendly. Socialization occurs mainly at firm cocktail parties and at other in-house events.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
