Another event that happened and changed my life was the acceptance of a marriage proposal and getting married at a young age. Still, I was focused on getting more education, and the situation could not prevent me from achieving my goals. The information about my marriage came as a shock to my educators. Most of them criticized the decision but surprisingly one of them supported it. My class teacher told me that although it seemed like a wrong decision, it could help me to get more financial support. He insisted that married individuals were more likely to be assisted financially than those who are single. This for me was the truth that I needed at that moment. When I was approved for a $400 loan, I was not able to continue with my post- secondary education in my area. I felt like my dreams had just been crushed. Nonetheless, I did not give up, and I relocated after I got my first child. Realizing that I had no alternatives, I took up odd jobs. I got a job at a local children's home where I took care of children from various backgrounds. There were situations where I got to attend to more than six children at a time. It was an uphill task, but still, I managed to do it because of my need for money. I created a special bond with most of the children and what was a job now turned out to be an enjoyable practice. I used some of the money to pay for an X-Ray technician. After a long searching period, my husband eventually got a job. This could have been a breakthrough as far as my dreams were concerned, but another problem occurred. My child got critically ill and had to be admitted to hospital. This occurrence affected me both financially and emotionally. I could not concentrate on my studies. I failed a course and was not able to redo the examination and therefore, I had to quit the program. I decided to invest the little money that I
