The court has identified situations in which the evidence collected is admissible in court even though something may have been wrong either the conduct of the police or the court that issued the warrant. The two examples in which the exclusionary rule may not apply are the police violations of the knock and announce rule and in searches by private persons. In violations of the knock and announce rule, the court held that the violation does not require exclusion of the evidence seized ( Hudson v. Michigan, 547 U. S. 586 [2006]). In Hudson, the police obtained a warrant to search for drugs and firearms in Hudson’s home. They went and announced their presence but waited only 3-5 seconds whereas the wait time required is 20-30 seconds. Hudson
